Montgomery County Emergency Dispatch Center (MCEDC) operates a state-of-the-art
9-1-1 enterprise network

Located in the southeast region of Pennsylvania, the Montgomery County Emergency Dispatch Center (MCEDC) operates a state-of-the-art 9-1-1 enterprise network, leveraging PlantCML solutions to provide fast, efficient emergency call processing.

The solution links five PSAPs (two VESTA® Meridian sites and three VESTA® Pallas sites), with a 28-position VESTA® Meridian system as the network hub. In the unlikely event of PSAP failure, a 10-position VESTA® Meridian system located at the county’s Fire Academy provides redundant backup to all PSAPs. The center uses PlantCML’s MagIC and MagIC Enterprise for seamless enterprise-wide management reporting, and has also integrated PlantCML’s ORION MapStar, ORION™ MapManager and VESTA®-View.

“Montgomery County is extremely satisfied with its PlantCML enterprise solution,” MCEDC 9-1-1 Coordinator Stephen D. Keeley said. “The equipment has always functioned flawlessly, and we are confident that we will enjoy this same level of reliability long into the future.”

The MCEDC services 49 police departments, 107 fire stations and 38 EMS squads. The county comprises 62 municipalities encompassing 483 square miles. On an average day, the network processes approximately 3,000 calls for help.
