Middle Flint Regional E-911 Named Best
in Georgia
PlantCML Technology Plays Vital Role in Helping E-911 Center Protect Residents Across Eight Counties
Oct. 30, 2007
(Middle Flint, Ga.) – Middle Flint Regional
E-911 Center, which relies on the proven
mission-critical communications technologies
of industry leader PlantCML to protect and
serve seven rural counties, was honored by
the Georgia chapter of the National
Emergency Number Association (NENA) at its
annual conference.
Middle Flint Regional E-911 was recognized
for its successful response to deadly
tornadoes which struck southern Georgia on
March 1, 2007. The PSAP (Public Safety
Answering Point) received three prestigious
awards from NENA
including “Most Outstanding Shift”, “Most
Outstanding Communications Officer” and
“Most Outstanding 911 Center.”
“The staff of Middle Flint Regional E-911
demonstrated real heroism as they were
dealing with the tornadoes that swept
through their region. PlantCML is proud to
have helped this extraordinary, and now
award-winning team,” said Tim Fuller, CEO of
PlantCML. “Our technology has enabled Middle
Flint to confidently handle emergency calls
in situations like the tornadoes in March,
and to effectively respond to the public
safety needs of area residents. The people
who work here help save lives on a daily
basis and are rarely recognized. This is a
well-deserved honor for a tremendous team.”
With 30 full-time employees, including five
communications officers at all times, Middle
Flint Regional E-911 Center serves 68
agencies (police, fire and rescue) and
approximately 90,000 residents. PlantCML
began working with Middle Flint in 2003.
Currently, the PSAP utilizes
PlantCML’s VESTA® Pallas™ system
- a versatile computer telephony integration
(CTI) solution that provides the call center
with a feature-rich digital environment for
emergency call-taking, mapping, incident
tracking and radio services. The technology
also provides an unprecedented level of
backup phone sets and a system design that
supports voice transmission, even in the
unlikely event of equipment failure.
Middle Flint Regional 911 also uses
PlantCML’s ORION CADStar™-- a computer-aided
dispatch (CAD) application for small to
medium emergency call centers. Its
map-centered design, scalability and
configurability enables call takers to
visually identify, dispatch and manage its
response agencies. Through its intuitive,
“information-on-demand” graphical user
interface (GUI), information is presented in
a highly efficient manner, displaying
multiple incidents, providing such important
details as HAZMAT information and unit
recommendations and detecting duplicate
calls.
“PlantCML has been an invaluable ally for us
the last few years,” said Ellice Fancher,
ENP Emergency Number Professional (ENP) Director
of Middle Flint Regional E-911. “From the
cutover when we installed the new PlantCML
system in 2003 to our tornado crisis earlier
this year, the technology has played a
critical role in our communications
efforts. Because we serve a rural area,
ORION CADStar’s mapping capabilities ensure
that we are sending our agencies to the
correct locations as quickly as possible.
And, VESTA Pallas gives us the dependability
and flexibility we need to handle calls on a
daily basis.“
